Rest in Peace - Wendy Karen Nash

November 28, 2008

Tyson and his family suffered a great loss this week.  Tyson's mom, Wendy Nash, born April 25, 1951, was recently diagnosed with cancer.  She began chemotherapy treatments, but she lost her life  Thanksgiving Day eve, November 27th, 2008 at 10:55 p.m. EST. She died as a result of her short, but valiant battle with liver cancer at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton.

Tyson has some wonderful friends and associates within the Coyotes organization.  During the game on November 28th, Coyotes broadcaster Todd Walsh aired the following two interviews - one with Tyson and one with his longtime friend Shane Doan.

Eulogy ~ Wendy Nash

Wendy Karen Nash (née Olive), born April 25, 1951, passed into the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, November 27th, 2008, at 8:55 p.m. She lost her life after a short, but valiant battle with liver cancer at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton, Alberta.

Her firstborn son, Dallas J.G. Nash, Virginia, USA, her baby son, Tyson S. Nash, Arizona, USA, and her brother, Cal Olive, Edmonton, were right there by her side when she left this world.

Wendy was predeceased by her father Gordon Olive, and her daughter Tracy Nash.

She is survived by her loving mother, Ruth Olive, her daughters-in-law, Rena Curtis Nash and Kathy Nash, her grandchildren, Madison Nash, Ty Nash, and Georgia Nash, her nieces, Katie Olive and Becky Olive, her sister-in-law Cheryle Olive, and her Aunts and Uncles, Violet and Doug Thompson, Lorraine and Peter Shumborski, Lorna and Clarence Jacobson, Howard Albrecht, her Great Aunt Pauline Albrecht, and many other relatives and loved ones in her large, extended family. She was twice married to Garry J. Nash, Vancouver, the father of her two children.

Wendy will be remembered for her vibrant, fun-loving personality, and her love for God and family. Wendy was born in and a long-time resident of Edmonton, but she has also resided in Vancouver, Calgary, and the USA. She was a loving mother and homemaker, a best friend and support to her children and mother Ruth. She relished her time with her family, especially around the holidays. Her greatest contribution to this world was her children and ultimately her grandchildren.

She finished her career as an exceptional sales woman.

Happy Holidays Mom, you will be dearly missed.
