Each week, Republic reporters talk with a member of the
broadcasting community.
Today: Coyotes analyst Tyson Nash.
Nash, in his first year as the Coyotes radio analyst, played
four-plus seasons with the Blues and two with Phoenix.
Is it tough being an analyst and knowing these players well?
"You're an extension of the team, but I've never been that type of
guy (critical). Even when I played, I wasn't really a negative guy.
I was always pretty positive."
But there comes a point . . .
"I also understand my job, and the
players respect that, and they understand it. You've got to have
some credibility in what you say, and in order to do that, you need
to be critical at the right times, and I'll do that - and I get
that."
What do you like about this team?
"Definitely young, they're gonna have some hiccups, and they're gonna have some stretches where
they're really great, too. It's important never to get too high or
too low, keep it even keel."
You decided not to go for a tryout with Tampa Bay, so how do you
like this job so far?
"I really like it. It's an opportunity for me
to stay in the game at this level."
